Artist Ashley McCarter was born and raised on the North Shore of Massachusetts. Her love for the ocean began at a young age when she would spend summers with her grandparents at Salisbury Beach State Reservation. Growing up, she would often say that two of her favorite things in the world were going to the beach and spending time making arts and crafts. Ashley also always enjoyed school and yearned to help others. She obtained her Doctorate of Audiology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in May 2017. Since then, she ran the audiology department at a small community hospital and worked as a clinical audiologist at a local Ear, Nose, and Throat clinic. After working throughout the Covid Pandemic, Ashley began to realize that it felt as though something was missing and she needed a more creative outlet. At the end of the summer of 2021, Ashley decided to leave her job in audiology to pursue her dream of owning her own crafting business, allowing her to pursue a life of creativity. She had begun working with epoxy resin in 2018 and knew that ocean themed artwork was her passion. It took several months of her honing her craft with continued practice and experimentation with different materials, surfaces, and techniques but she was finally ready to share her art with the world.
