After a traumatic experience, Dierdra Michelle realized that "if you are not being true to who you are, you are wasting your life." This pivotal moment led her to become a full-time studio artist in 2010. Since then, she has dedicated her work to bringing art to life in a way that fosters joy and healing in the world.
Following the 2023 flood in her neighborhood, Dierdra felt compelled to support her community by sharing the stories of those affected by the flooding through visual storytelling. Follow @heart_of_barre for more on this project.
Dierdra is grateful for the friendships and insights this project has brought her. She works from her home studio in the north end of Barre, where she lives with her husband, Bill, and their dog, Gusto.
