All our work is created to be both functional and beautiful. Each piece is first hand thrown and trimmed on the potters wheel. Then hand painted using underglaze and colored slips, each piece is then sgraffito carved to add texture and decoration. Finally each piece is glazed for practical function and fired to cone 5.5 in an electric kiln.
Smoke Pail consists of a collaborative mother and daughter team, Dia and Ellen Haffar. We specialize in highly decorated and illustrated mugs, bowls and vases. Our functional ceramic work is hand thrown, then hand painting utilizing colored slips and underglazes. We strive to create functional art which enhances everyday with beauty and whimsy.
