Throughout my life I have enjoyed exploring a wide variety of crafts. Currently weaving and pottery have become passions. Interest in weaving grew through the encouragement of my neighbor and friend, a retired high school art teacher. With her support, guidance, and generous sharing of equipment, I initially learned on a rigid heddle loom, progressing to the four harness loom which allows a greater range of design. Towels, placemats, and table runners are frequent projects. I do look forward to creating woven rugs. My interest in pottery began when taking a 10 week course at a nearby studio and art gallery. It was addicting and I incessantly visited that studio as I developed skills creating bowls, mugs, pitchers, and plates. Unfortunately, due to Covid, my pottery is now limited. Although two very distinct arts, weaving and pottery now meld together as I often design handwoven towels to compliment my pottery.
Now a retired teacher, I enjoy time with my children and grandchildren, gardening, arts, travel, and nature as well as pursuing my love of a wide variety of crafts which was fostered by my mother from a very young age. There is so much to explore!
