Like traditional artisanal crafts – hand-stitched quilts, Shaker furniture, turned wooden bowls – my pottery is made to be used. I have experimented with many ceramic styles, tools and techniques. Now, I make graters, grating bowls and grating mugs (for ginger tea!) out of clay. I love their form and function. They are at once beautiful and useful, because Art is necessary!
I was born and raised in Western Massachusetts where I received a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. Diploma in hand, I moved to New Hampshire to seek my fortune. After more than two decades serving humanity in the banking and finance industries, I tossed said diploma to the wind to pursue my passion: pottery.
