Hand-woven items: Scarfs, table runners, tea towels, napkins and placemats. I design my products using various templates as the base and then alternating the patterns to fit my color pallet. The items are made from cotton, linen, silk, wool and bamboo.
Dorchester Farms began over 25 years ago in Ken Abert’s Victorian home in Dorchester MA where he taught himself how to spin, weave and dye fiber. His creative passions expanded when he relocated year-round to Provincetown MA in 2014, where he gains inspiration from the natural surroundings at the tip of Cape Cod. The vibrant cultures that infuse the Provincetown art colony influence Ken’s pallet of designs, inspiring unique fiber arts in a variety of forms. As each batch is unique with brilliant colors, you are guaranteed a special piece of fiber art. Ken has participated in various sheep and wool festivals in New York, Connecticut, Vermont, Maine, and Massachusetts. Demonstrations included dyeing and spinning fiber, carding wool, and basic weaving techniques. Ken continues to develop his skills with classes in spinning and weaving, dyeing processes, and color applications. Ken recently participated in a tapestry workshop in Stirling Scotland with Fiona Hutchison. Ken’s portfolio includes commissioned works of hand dyed scarves, exemplary tea towels, and decorative pillows. Please check out is website at dorchesterfarms.com.
