Snakes of New England and the World
Do you wonder what kind of snakes might be living in the woods near your house? Have you ever caught a glimpse of a snake just as it disappeared into some shrubs and wished for a closer look? Here is your chance to see native and exotic snakes close up. Rick Roth, local snake expert and Director of Cape Ann Vernal Pond Team, will share some of his favorite snakes including a native snake display and snakes from around the world during this live animal exhibit - and he'll be assisted by our team of volunteers.
Since its inception more than 35 years ago, the Cape Ann Vernal Pond Team has done a tremendous amount of work to preserve vanishing vernal ponds and thereby protect the wildlife that rely on those ponds for survival. We do this by teaching and engaging people from all walks of life with presentations, exhibits, field trips and conservation work. We inspire the local community to become active and responsible stewards of wild places. We bring people into the field to discover creatures and habitat in ways they may not have experienced before. We encourage everyone to get outside. Within the past few years approximately ten thousand people became aware of vernal ponds. Yet, we remain a very small nonprofit with a high programmatic impact! We couldn't do all these amazing things without you. Thank you! Cape Ann Vernal Pond Team.
