My current work is focused on small-batch hammered brass pieces inspired by the natural world. I primarily make lightweight earrings, but one of my most popular products are hammered brass air-plant hangers. I also make linoleum and woodcut prints, as well as collaborate with my mother (flower farmer) on making dried flower wreaths and other botanical products.
I first started metalsmithing when I was 13 and won the Scholastic Arts Award for my work at 16 and 17. My academic career revolved around biology and environmental science, and my interest in the natural world has been a major influence on my artwork over the years. My career as a biologist has taken me to many remote and wild places, but my passion has always been handmade crafts and creating art inspired by patterns and geometry found in nature.
