I created this company in early 2022. The previous winter, my partner, Donnie, sustained a traumatic brain injury. I took a hiatus from my career in physical therapy to care for him, and during his initial recovery we relied almost completely on candlelight, as other forms of light were intolerable to his condition. I began making my own candles to ensure the ingredients were safe and clean burning. When I came upon the unique wax we use today, I knew this was to be much more than just a new hobby. After several months of research and development, the Granite Firefly Candle Company was born.
