Based in Salem, MA, Alder & Spice is committed to creating small-batch, hand-poured premium candles. Our candles are non-toxic, dye-free, and made with materials sources as ethically and sustainably as possible. Each candle is specially crafted to curate an enhanced sensory experience for the burner.
Alder & Spice was initially started as just a hobby; a creative outlet for our founder, Kat, as a change from her everyday work as a professional software project manager. As she got more and more excited about the science and fun of coming up with new candle ideas, making and testing them, she began giving out candles as gifts to friends, family, and co-workers. After being asked to create some custom candle collections for local businesses, she decided to evolve into the small company we are today, continuing to make custom candles but also creating small-batch collections for sale online and at markets and fairs.
