Handmade wooden kitchenwares inspired by the sea, La Marée Art is a fusion of fine art and function. Working with my local lumber yards, I receive long planks of domestic hardwoods (maple, cherry, walnut) into my woodshop. I cut them down to desired size and then shape them with my jigsaw. These boards are then sanded to perfection and brought into my art studio where I apply a tasteful touch of resin to finish them off.
A list of items I would be bringing to the show -
1. Coastal wooden serving boards
2. Wooden lazy susans
3. Large kitchen island centerpieces
4. Wooden Coaster sets
My name is Meghan, I live and work in coastal Maine. After college, I moved out to southern France for five years where I learned the language and the culture and adopted it as my own. This was a magical time that taught me an incredible amount about myself and others. Upon returning back home for good, I started playing with epoxy which at the time, was a rare medium to be making art with. There were no videos or other artists to learn from so I taught myself. Through MUCH trial and error, I was able to tune my craft over and over into what it finally is today. "La marée" is French for "the tide". The name of my business, La Marée Art is a merging of my childhood on the coast of Maine and my beloved time on the French Mediterranean.
