My craft includes both flat wood work including charcuterie boards, cutting boards, and Lazy Susan’s and wood turnings such as ice cream scoops and beer bottle openers.
I have been crafting with wood for over 10 years now and once saw someone make a wooden bowl and thought to myself, “I want to learn how to do that”. After taking several local classes I learned it and was immediately hooked. I then began making handles for ice cream scoops and beer bottle openers.
I absolutely love that I can transform simple pieces of wood into useful utensils and boards.
The two most satisfying moments for me are first when a finish is applied to a piece and the grains of the wood reveal their dazzling colors. The second satisfying moment for me is when someone holds a piece I created and I get to witness their reaction of amazement that it started as a “just a piece of a tree”.
