Recycled railroad spikes fashioned to look like people performing their occupation or playing a sport or musical instrument.
My wife tells me the fine line between me being a genius and being insane is my imagination.
I tell people that I really don’t think of myself as an artist, but I see myself as a good fabricator. I enjoy geometry, and I can build or repair just about anything. People tell me that I AM an artist, and that I give life and personality to each piece I create. No two pieces are alike and each piece speaks to people differently. I love doing what I do and I am also having a blast doing it.
I take 100% American steel recycled railroad spikes and weld them with other pieces to depict people playing sports, performing an occupation, playing a musical instrument or capturing a moment/situation in life, all with a touch of humor. The other metal used may be round bar, sheet steel, nails, screws/washers and sockets, mostly all recycled. My larger pieces are made from PNO (pickled in oil) steel which I've hand cut and welded together. I’ve chosen a tropical theme with these larger pieces to include a loggerhead turtle and octopus. My most iconic pieces are of the men eating lunch while atop a skyscraper in New York and the three firemen raising the flag at ground zero.
