I create the pieces in this collection using a method I have originated and honed over time. I use bits of magazine and catalog paper (chosen for their colors and patterns) to turn into wearable blossoms. After each section of petals and leaves are hand-cut, layered, glued, and shaped, I dip each blossom individually in a clear coat resin to preserve. At this point, the colors of the upcycled paper come alive (I do not paint or dye anything) and the flowers are "born." I endeavor to create different flowers and designs to make each new season's collection fresh and exciting for my customer/collector base. I also use different plastic and paperboard recyclables to create bonsai trees, life-size blooms in vases, dish gardens, fairy gardens, and decorative wall-hangings. All items use as much recycled/upcycled materials as possible and follow a Cape Cod coastal decorative vibe.
The pieces in the Green Goddess Gifts collection have been created using a unique process, developed by the artist over time, to turn carefully curated bits of magazine paper into detailed blossoms. Inspiration is drawn from the artist's lush Cape Cod perennial beds and the desire to reuse and recycle. The flowers are used to embellish sterling silver, wood, leather, and other materials to create one-of-a-kind jewelry and home decor items. Enjoy and wear in good health!
