While living in California for a short time in the late 70s, I saw a poster about a studio offering classes in stained glass, and I signed up and fell in love with glass. After I returned to NH, I continued to learn about glass through classes and a lot of my own trial and error, eventually building a portfolio of small pieces, commissioned work, and doing repairs. Along the way I taught myself about sandblasting, both on the surface and sandcarving, learned painting on glass in the early 80s from the incomparable glass painter Albinas Elskus, and fusing techniques thanks to Bullseye Glass workshops, and the glass artist Scandia Wood. Much of my learning now occurs online, thanks to wonderful instructors, YouTube videos, and different Facebook groups.
